Born and raised in Ghana, Vida Patience Naa Kokoi Tawiah is her full
name. Her singing ability has won her many names from Vidash-Tosh to
Vsparks; however, the Vsparks has taken precedence over all the other
names. She acquired the nickname Vsparks from friends and family who
taught her voice sparks like a flame anytime she opens her mouth. She
has been singing since the age of six, however, it was not until she
got to high school that she realized this unique ability to sing and
to connect with audience. After singing “Jesu Joy of man’s
desiring” by J.S Bach during a school anniversary, she got the
invitation to sing at parties, weddings and church functions.
Vsparks moved to the states in 1998 to attend University of Connecticut.
It was during a family party when she was introduced to Jo Bray. Few
months after she became friends with Jo, her unique singing ability
became apparent. He invited her to record with him on the Nations album,
which has cause fans to inquire about her since. The duet “My
Only Savior”, which she did with Jo, has been a hit single on
Connecticut’s number gospel radio WDJZ.
Looking ahead, she is preparing for a solo project which will be due
out early next year. VSparks enjoys watching movies, reading and traveling
on her leisure hours.
